Companion to Arthur Daou's Rubaiyat
Antony Daou, Arthur's eldest son, continues the family love for Khayyam's Rubaiyat with this short volume. Using the first 12 stanzas, he illustrates the beauty of Arthur's poetry for the non-Arabic and Arabic reader alike. Each stanza is carefully transliterated and literally translated. An alphabet table with the changing forms of the Arabic letters depending on their position in the word, as well as his carefully chosen letters for transliteration at the end is both useful and practical. The transliteration is faithful to the elision and joining of words and phrases as it occurs in spoken Lebanese Arabic, and in Lebanese poetry.
